The Route Romane d'Alsace crosses plains, montagnes and vignobles from north to south in Alsace. An invitation to follow a route dotted with high points of Romanesque art!
The heritage is made up of 120 sites from Wissembourg à Feldbach via Rosheim and Gueberschwihr or the cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg. If you're visiting the Alsatian capital, head to the Notre-Dame de Strasbourg museum. It is home to some of the finest examples of Alsatian Romanesque art.
The Romanesque Route of Alsace was created in 1999 and lists churches, abbeys and chapels whose architecture features buildings constructed between the 11th and 13th centuries. Discover the architectural components of Romanesque art: geometrical forms and decorative motifs, sculpted horns, tapestries and the different shades of grey in the facades. Raise your head to admire the arches and capitals, walk around the nave and plunge into the heart of Alsace's history. Another way to learn about Alsace!
TheFestival Voix et Route Romane takes place every year at the end of summer, offering 2 weeks of concerts dedicated to the musique médiévale. Since 2022, the festival has been enriched with workshops, guided tours and tastings, reaffirming the link between live entertainment and Romanesque heritage.
