Discover Alsace

Discover the different regions of Alsace!

From the Northern Vosges to the Sundgau, from the Vosges Massif to the Rhine Plain, Alsace awaits you with its exceptionally rich landscapes, heritage and gastronomy!

Alsace, a land of contrasts and joy, can be seen in its entirety as you wander through the flower-decked villages where the people who built it still breathe: half-timbered houses and multi-sloped roofs, oriel windows, chamfered door frames...

In the valleys, at the foot of the mountains, nestle the picturesque villages, enclosed within their walls, with their belfries, their ramparts, their cosy inns with their historic signs, their chapels and their calvaries.

Mysterious castles dominate the plain, wine trails run through the heart of the vignoble, winstubs and tasting cellars welcome you. The sun-drenched hillsides are home to Alsace's seven grape varieties. These great French wines, which are appellation d'origine contrôlée, and which go wonderfully well with gastronomy are: Sylvaner, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Muscat and Gewurztraminer.

The region's natural heritage is recognised in particular by its regional nature parks, namely the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park (see also Massif des Vosges) and the Parc Naturel Régional des Vosges du Nord (See également Alsace Bossue, Vosges du Nord).

At the extremes of the region, we find to the north the Outre-Forêt (Haguenau sector) and to the south the Sundgau (Ferrette and Altkirch sector).

Finally, two Alsatian capitals serve our region: Strasbourg, capital of Europe and Colmar, capital of wine.
