Barr owes its fame to the vine. The wine capital of the Bas-Rhin, with the oldest wine fair in Alsace, the town attracts connoisseurs of fine wine with its seven quality crus. Built at an altitude of 204 m, Barr lies at the mouth of the Saint-Ulrich valley and at the foot of the Kirchberg and Freiberg hills. Numerous signposted footpaths lead through the forest, and the Three Castles Walk leads to the medieval ruins of Haut-Andlau, Spesbourg and Landsberg. Thanks to its privileged location, Barr attracts many tourists in search of nature, authenticity and beautiful stonework. Barr is 15 minutes from Obernai and Mont-Odile, 35 minutes from Strasbourg and 40 minutes from Colmar, as well as 30 minutes from the Champ du Feu.
