Lalique Museum

Discover the works of the master glassmaker

The Lalique Museum is located in an exceptional setting. In the heart of the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park, in the commune of Wingen-sur-Moder, René Lalique set up his glassworks in 1921. The museum is located in the town of Wingen-sur-Moder, in the heart of the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park. This museum is dedicated to the master glassmaker, jeweller and his successors. He left his mark on the Art Nouveau and Art Déco periods with his unique and instantly recognisable style. An exceptional artist and wise industrialist, René Lalique lived fully in his époque to develop his business. More than 650 works are on display at the museum, including jewellery, perfume bottles and tableware.

A region conducive to the art of glassmaking

The glassmaking tradition in the Vosges du Nord dates back to the late 15th century, with the region offering the necessary raw materials: silica, the basic raw material for glassmaking, and wood. Crystal, a type of glass rich in lead, was used by Marc, René Lalique's son, from 1945 onwards. The various stages of manufacture are covered in the exceptional pièces. Every year, the Lalique museum hosts a major summer exhibition. To complement your visit to the musée Lalique, you can take a stroll through the gardens and reconnect with the maîtres glassmaker's vintage inspirations.
Many waymarked paths are located à near the site, allowing you to explore the forests of the Parc Naturel Régional. The "In the footsteps of the glassmakers" loop, with the Lalique museum as its starting point, will give seasoned hikers the chance to cover 19 kilometres.

Recognised expertise

The Musée Lalique celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2022! Today, almost 250 people, including 7 Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, continue to perpetuate the know-how of René Lalique and his successors. Glassmaking skills are now part of France's intangible heritage. The jewel in the crown of French crystal-making, Lalique crystal is renowned the world over and has a wealth of expertise. Wingen-sur-Moder its sole place of production and its business revolves around decorative objects, interior architecture, jewellery, perfume and art.
