The permanent covered market is located in the heart of the town of Colmar. Built in 1865, the building had several functions before returning to its original purpose as a market hall.
Today, this covered market is home to around twenty traders offering stalls selling fresh, quality produce, fruit and vegetables, butchers, delicatessens, cheesemongers, bakery-pâtisserie, fishmongers and other local produce. The ideal place to stock up on local delicacies, just a stone's throw from the Lauch, the Koifhus and the admirable Petite Venise. Enjoy the charm of the pinkgrey brickwork, the imposing métal framework and the canals where Venetian ships sailed; The imposing metal framework and the canals where the flat-bottomed barques sailed encircled the building, making it a true îlot, the least of the industrial era. One of the niches in the covered market houses Le Petit Vigneron Alsacien, a statue created by Auguste Bartholdi as a tribute to his native region.
