Located at an altitude of 1,098 metres on the communal boundaries of Belmont and Hohwald, the Champ du Feu is the highest point in Bas-Rhin. The observation tower built in the late 19th century by the Club Vosgien is its central point. The Champ du Feu is an hour's drive from Strasbourg or Colmar. This magnificent natural area is partly classified as "Natura 2000" in order to better preserve the wild fauna and flora it shelters.
The only ski area in the Bas-Rhin, Champ du Feu and its 14 runs for all levels offer Alpine skiing. With more than 90 kilometres of marked and freely accessible runs, fans of cross-country skiing will be delighted. This natural area of undergrowth and stubble will delight hikers on snowshoes. Le Champ du Feu is the must-visit family resort for first-time skiers in the Vosges Massif!
The Champ du Feu has plenty to offer the whole family: hiking with the GR5, mountain biking (electric or otherwise), paragliding and tree climbing are just some of the activities available in the summer months! The nearby Hohwald waterfall is a great place to cool off.
Young and old alike find the joys of sliding in the summer with the tubing track.
With a totally unobstructed horizon and a location in the middle mountains away from sources of light pollution, astronomy enthusiasts flock to Champ du Feu to admire thousands of canvases of the naked sky!
