It was in the Pays d'Auge that the brilliant explorers Conrad Schlumberger (2 October 1878; 9 May 1936) and Marcel Schlumberger (21 June 1884; 20 Aug;t 1953), both born in Alsace, carried out research that revolutionised oil and gas exploration and production worldwide.Owned by the Conrad family in 1912, he carried out the first field trial of electrical prospecting and became its inventor. A few years later, Conrad and his brother Marcel turned it into the world's first oil exploration technology.
